
Mobile Payments is quite well documented these days on the Internet. Having embarked on the concept of “using a mobile phone to pay for goods and services” since 2008, a lot has changed in the industry.
There are clear distinctions between using a mobile phone for payment in a developed world compared to the developing world. All our experience has been in the developing world to date, which makes adaptation to the developed world slightly easier.
We pioneered the use of using USSD as a payment method and allowing users to pay for goods using both their airtime wallets as well as creating the concept of a “virtual wallet” since 2008.
We have embarked on a new new project called EZYTRANS which is aimed at both the developing and devloped worlds and provide an easier alternative to payments than using a credit card. More details on this will follow later in 2013.
The software development team is still largely intact and this retained skills sets are important in the development of mobile payments services. This covers custom apps for Smartphones to plug-in card readers for a Point-of-Sale terminal (using a mobile phone).
